Should I take my child to a pediatric dentist?

We welcome families here at Creedmoor Family Dentistry, but we encourage our youngest patients to visit a pediatric dental office.  A pediatric dental office is usually set up with fun decorations, toys in the waiting rooms, cartoons on the televisions, smaller equipment, and even x-rays that fit better in a child's mouth. Pediatric dentists only treat children, and have extra training related to dental care for children. Because we care about your children, we want them to visit to a specialized pediatric dentist so that they can begin a lifetime of routine dental care in a very positive way.

While Dr. Willis is very comfortable with children (he has four of his own), we want our future dental patients to enjoy going to the dental office. At Creedmoor Family Dentistry, we encourage parents to take their children to  the pediatric dentist until at least eight, sometimes longer, depending on the child.  Dr. Willis is experienced in treating children's dental needs, but there may be situations where even an older child may be more comfortably treated at a pediatric dentist specialist (pedodontist). If Dr. Willis determines that your child's needs will be best served by a specialist, we will be happy to give a referral.

If you would like more information, here is a great article to read about why pediatric dentists are a great choice for kids: https://www.colgate.com/en-us/oral-health/basics/dental-visits/four-reasons-to-choose-a-pediatric-dentist-1213. At the bottom is a search option to find a pediatric dentist.

We love children and want them to have the most positive dental experience possible, so we recommend that they begin with a pediatric dentist who specializes in caring for young children.  Give us a call at 919-528-4004, and we will be happy to give you a referral!

When your child is ready for a positive experience with a general family dentist, we are excited to encourage your child develop great dental habits through effective brushing, flossing, and regular visits to a dentist.

It's great that you elaborated on why we should take our kids to a pediatric dentist because it helps us understand more of how different the treatment is since they have the extra training related to dental care for children. I have a 5-year-old daughter who has a complete set of front teeth already. I want to bring her to a dentist as soon as possible so she can get familiarized and be comfortable around them.

I really like your tip to take your child wherever they will be the most comfortable. My wife and I have been considering getting a new dentist for our son. We will be sure to ask him where he would be the most comfortable!

It's good to know more about pediatric dentistry. I like how you said that kids need to see one of these until they are at least 8. My two kids are both younger than that, so I guess I should find a dentist for them to see.

Thanks for pointing out that pediatric offices will have special equipment for children such as smaller x-ray machines. My sister just moved to my city, and she asked for my help finding a dentist for her kids. I thought that pediatric dentist offices were only different because of the toys and movies, so thanks for pointing out that they actually have specialized equipment!

Thank you for mentioning that hiring a pediatric dentist is important because they specialize in the needs of children and are trained to handle pediatric dental problems. That makes sense, especially since children are a lot more sensitive than adults. The same goes for babies. I can't even open my baby's mouth without worrying that I will hurt him. Maybe I should rely on a pro to help me.

It is good that you pointed out that pediatric dentists are only for treating children. Since my kid has been complaining of toothaches lately, I am thinking of visiting a dentist one of these days as her toothache issue may get worse if not treated promptly. As she is only 5 years old, I will definitely take her to a pediatric dentist one of these days.

Well explained, When it comes to staying healthy, we all need some help from the experts!! Well, pediatric dental care is an important aspect and one must not ignore it. Since my son is facing different kinds of dental issues such as cavity and oral related problem. So, I am thinking of visiting our family dentist at Light Touch Dental Care as early as possible because Halloween is coming and I don't want him to miss his Halloween candy just because of his toothache!!

My wife and I just moved to a new area and have been looking for a new dentist for our family. Right now, we are trying to decide if we should take them to a children's dentist or a family dentist. Before reading this article, I did not know that a children's dentist would have machines that are built for children's mouths.

It's always better to see your family dentist, in case of any oral health issue of your child. I suggest you see a pediatric dentist on regular bases, Even if they are not complaining about any issue. It will help in maintaining the overall oral health and hygiene of your child. Hope this information will help you!! Thanks!!

I like how you explained that a pediatric dental office is usually set up with fun decorations and toys. Personally, I believe that helps a lot when you take your kids to the dentist since they might feel afraid of visiting the dentist. Thanks for sharing this article, I will share it with my wife so she can also be more relaxed when she takes our kids.

My kids should go to the dentist. I think it would be a good idea since their teeth are mostly in. That way, we can plan for the future to see if there will be any problems.

It's great to know that pediatricians decorate their clinics so infants can be distracted and overcome their fear of dentists. My sister has been thinking of taking her son to the dentist because he just began losing his baby teeth. I will recommend her finding a dentist that is well with kids so her son can overcome his anxiety of dentists.

I didn't realize that there were smaller x-rays that were made specifically for children. My sister has been trying to figure out where to take her little one for dental treatment. I'll have to let her know to consider going to a pediatric dentist.
